Abstract

This chapter features six full-length inquiry-based lesson plans that utilize the 5E Instructional Model and incorporate the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). At the elementary level, science standards are incorporated into the English Language Arts objectives for the CCSS. There are two life science lessons, two earth science lessons, and two physical science lessons. Although there are specific grade levels from K-5 attached to each lesson, the lesson plans could easily be modified and/or scaffolded to address science standards at other grade levels.
