Analyzing Sources of Bias for Teacher Preparation

Abstract

We think we know what prejudice and discrimination are. But do we really? In this session, attendees will examine the nuances between prejudice and discrimination. They will listen to three teacher candidates as they share their own personal examinations of memory triggers that highlight how their prejudice was formed through personal experiences. And, these teacher candidates will share what they will do based on this newly found knowledge. Afterwards, participants will have an opportunity to engage in a safe space conversation about their memory triggers.
