In 2017, a nationwide general strike (“Day without a Woman”) was planned for Wednesday, March 8, International Women’s Day. Rather than participate in that, some SFA faculty planned a teach-in for that day. The event was fabulous. We repeated it in 2018, 2019, 2020, and now I guess we do it annually.

What is a teach-in? A "teach-in" is akin to a "sit-in," though rather than sitting / protesting, we are teaching. "Teach ins" were popularized during the U.S. government's involvement in Vietnam. The topic of our "teach-in" is anything having to do with women / gender.

Who? Faculty and staff will be presenting 30 minute lectures/lessons/activities on women and/or women's issues. Students, staff, faculty, and community members are welcome to attend. Men and women alike!
