Abstract
"Thrift is a wonderful virtue," Mark Twain once remarked, "especially in an ancestor." This quote is a lead-in to a recent article in Money magazine titled "The Great Estate" (Keating 1999). Many articles and reports in the popular press today focus on the trillions of dollars that will pass from America's World War II generation to their children in coming years.
