Description
Stephen F. Austin State University supports a large education department that offers degrees in teaching, human sciences, human services, and educational leadership through the doctoral level. The university library’s documents collection includes monthly Bulletins published by the Texas State Department of Education from 1918-1946. The documents present an intriguing glimpse at the development of education between the two World Wars. Since they are old and in fragile condition, it was decided that the documents would become an interesting and useful research collection if preserved digitally and made available electronically. Our project succeeded because both an opportunity and need were identified, several library departments were able to coordinate their expertise and resources, and library staff collaborated by sharing their individual ideas and skills.
