About the Gardens
Occupying over 128 acres of space in and around Stephen F. Austin State University and Nacogdoches, Texas, the SFA Gardens are host to a diverse selection of plant life. There are four distinct garden areas within SFA Gardens, which includes the SFA Mast Arboretum, the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden, the Pineywoods Native Plant Center and the Gayla Mize Garden. In addition to hosting and maintaining these, SFA Gardens also tours and educational opportunities, including lectures and workshops, to the university and public.
The Gardens recently became host to the Sculpture for All competition and exhibition, a nationally juried display of outdoor art that will be located in the Mast Arboretum and the Mize Azalea Garden through February 2015. An image gallery for this exhibition can be found on SFA ScholarWorks here.
