Oral History Interview with Gracie Boone
Abstract
Gracie Schoubroek Boone was born on June 6, 1906, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, to Jim and Julia Schoubroek. She was one of eight children in her family. She married Sheldon Collins Boone and had three children. Boone discussed her childhood, including her father’s work at a logging camp. She recollects life after her mother became a widowed woman, in the early nineteen hundreds, with six children still at home. She explains how they survived through hard times as a family.
